Arrive Bonnieux
|
" Built on a plateau above the Luberon valley, Bonnieux is one

Explore the Vaucluse
|
The name Vaucluse comes from the Provencal for "closed valley,"
referring to the area where a spring gushes forth at the base of
a sheer rock face. This itinerary includes the Fontaine, as well
as some of the most picturesque Provencal villages.
Lunch perhaps at Isle-sur-la-Sorgue
|
Roussillon
- the "red town."
Gordes
- perched dramatically on a rocky hill, with its 12th-century castle
Fontaine-de-Vaucluse
- the Niagara Falls of Provence
Isle-sur-la-Sorgue
- Built on five islands in the River Sorgue, this town is known
for its antiques markets.

Tue 15 October
To Arles; possibly also Les Baux
|
Arles is the site of impressive Roman ruins and the town
where Van Gogh did some of his best work (though none of his paintings
now remain there).
Les Baux: Spectacular natural views, a beautifully restored
medieval village alongside a ghostly ruined citadel
